Checklist for Texas A&M International University
1.) Apply and be accepted to the University.
2.) Present discharge documents and other required documentation to the VA Coordinator (Located in ZSC 121K).
3.) Complete the "Hazlewood Application" form at the Veterans Affairs Office.
4.) The (Student Service Fee) is the only fee not covered by Hazlewood with some exceptions at Texas A&M International University.

Benefit Information
The purpose of the Hazlewood Exemption (Hazlewood Act) is to provide an education benefit to honorably discharged or separated Texas veterans and to eligible dependent children and spouses of Texas veterans.

NEW! Veterans who are granted their first Hazlewood exemption beginning fall, 2011 must reside in Texas during the semester or term for which the exemption is claimed. This requirement does not apply to veterans who received the exemption prior to the 2011-2012 academic year.
Additional Information
Please note: Your Hazlewood Exemption file must be completed by the Official Census Date (12th class day during Fall/Spring and 4th class day during Summer) as published in the University Calendar in order for the Hazlewood Waiver to be invoked for that semester. When all items are received in the Veterans Affairs Office, your application will be reviewed by the Veteran Affairs Coordinator for approval.
The student service fee must be paid when tuition and fees are due to avoid any other charges.
