The mission of the Kinesiology non-certification program at Texas A&M International University is to educate and prepare qualified professionals in kinesiology and exercise science who are committed to promoting active and healthy lifestyles across the Border Region, the state of Texas, and national and international communities.
Grounded in the unique needs and strengths of the Laredo community, the program is dedicated to student success through rigorous academic preparation, applied learning experiences, and meaningful faculty mentorship that supports both personal and professional growth. Students are supported as they build a strong foundation in scientific knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for careers in human performance, fitness, and rehabilitation, as well as future graduate and professional study in health sciences.
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences must receive all completed application materials and supporting documentation by the Monday following Spring Commencement for Fall admission and by the Monday following Fall Commencement for Spring admission.
Applicants are encouraged to review current University admission requirements and application procedures prior to applying.
Please note that minimum GPA requirements and admission criteria are subject to change. Students are encouraged to consult with their Academic Success Coach (Advisor) for the most current information and guidance.
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences welcomes transfer applicants from accredited colleges and universities. Transfer coursework will be evaluated for applicability toward degree requirements in the Kinesiology program.
Applicants must meet all University admission requirements as well as any program-specific requirements established by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions must be submitted as part of the application process.
Admission to the Kinesiology program is based on the evaluation of the student’s academic record and completion of University and program admission requirements.
Selection into the program may consider factors such as grade point average (GPA), completed coursework, and overall academic preparedness.
TAMIU provides reasonable accommodation to qualified students with a disability. Upon admission, a nursing student who discloses a disability and requests accommodation may be asked to provide documentation of his or her disability to determine appropriate accommodations, including modifications to the program. The TAMIU College of Nursing and Health Sciences will provide reasonable accommodations but is not required to make accommodations that would substantially alter the nature or requirements of the program or provide auxiliary aids that present an undue burden. To enroll or continue in the curriculum, the nursing student must be able to perform all the essential functions with or without accommodation.

The Kinesiology program at Texas A&M International University prepares students for careers and advanced study in exercise science, health promotion, rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and human performance. Located in Laredo, Texas, the program provides students with opportunities to apply classroom knowledge through hands-on learning experiences, community engagement, and professional development.
Students may pursue graduate or professional programs in areas such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, exercise physiology, and other health-related fields. The program also prepares graduates for careers in fitness and wellness centers, community health organizations, sports performance settings, corporate wellness programs, and related industries throughout South Texas and beyond.
Through coursework, laboratory experiences, and faculty mentorship, students develop the scientific knowledge, communication skills, and practical experience needed to support the health and wellness of diverse populations.
