Develop and Perfect Your Elevator Pitch

An elevator pitch is a brief and compelling introduction designed to highlight your skills, interests, and goals in a way that leaves a positive and memorable impression. Your elevator pitch should be short enough to be shared during an elevator ride.

Use your elevator pitch to showcase who you are, what you do, and what you are looking for. Read what to include, who to share it with, and an example below.

As you develop your elevator pitch, include the following:

  •  Introduction
    • Name, major, university, field of study, program, etc.
  • Interests
    • Explanation of what you are passionate about, your experiences, or your goals.
  • Intention
    • Share what you are looking for from this connection/exchange (i.e. inquiring about internship or employment opportunities, asking about individual's role, collaborating on a research project)

This example includes an introduction, interest information, and intention.
