Educator Preparation Program

Welcome! We are thrilled you are considering Texas A&M International University for your teacher certification. We want to help you choose an accredited and esteemed teacher education program that's right for you. The College of Education's Educator Preparation Program (EPP) has dedicated faculty and staff, as well as numerous resources both on- and off-campus that will help you on the path to becoming a teacher. Whether you are seeking initial certification, or looking to advance your career, we are here to help.

It is important to note that many entities are interested in who becomes a teacher: the federal government, state government, universities, accrediting bodies, school districts, parents, etc. The laws and rules for educator certification are written and regulated by the entities listed below, and the College of Education EPP implements the laws and rules created by these institutions:

  • The U.S. Department of Education
  • The State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC)
  • The Texas Education Agency (TEA)
  • The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
  • The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
