University Honors & Undergraduate Research Program

The University Honors & Undergraduate Research Program is designed to enrich the educational experience of exceptional students at TAMIU. The program seeks students who are highly motived to go above and beyond in their learning experience.

Admission to the program requires the completion of the application below, which provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their interest in the Honors program and their background.

Students will be asked to provide:

• Educational background information
• Essay response
• Two letters of recommendation highlighting:
  • How the recommender knows the student,
  • Student's academic background, personal strengths, and leadership qualities
  • Why student is a good fit for the Honors program
• Unofficial transcripts (if they have earned college credit) 

All completed applications will be reviewed during June, and selected students will be invited to an interview. Final selection and acceptance will be shared with students during August.

Application opens: March 1, 2026 
Application closes: May 31, 2026
