Student Travel Stipend
UHURP provides travel stipends to students who desire to enhance their academic and professional development through participation at local, regional, state, national, and/or international conferences related to their thesis work as part of the program.
Funds may not exceed $750 per academic year, and priority will be given to first-time applicants. Following TAMIU’s travel guidelines, if travel is done as a group/team, students of the same gender will be asked to share lodging to maximize funds.
Student Travel Fund Guidelines
The student must be:
- A member of UHURP in good standing.
- Actively participating (presenting a paper, poster, etc) in the conference; proof of acceptance will be required as required documentation.
- Willing to participate in the LEARN Expo hosted in November or April after their conference presentation is completed.
Application Procedure
- Complete UHURP Travel Funds Request Form (coming soon), which includes:
- Details of the conference and length of travel
- Brief descriptions of your presentation
- Title of poster/presentation Include evidence of conference participation (acceptance letter)
- Travel Liability Waiver Form
- Request will be reviewed. If accepted, funding notification will be sent via email.
- Upon return of conference, students will be required to:
- Submit a 2-page report of how attendance enhanced academic, research, or personal development. Including pictures.
- Present/share during UHURP’s meetings or LEARN Expo
