University Honors & Undergraduate Research Program

Program Requirements

UHURP students are required to maintain the following academic standards as a condition of their continued participation in the program.

• Maintain an Institutional GPA of 3.25 every semester
• Complete Honors Contracts per their designated pathway
• Enroll full-time (12 SCH) each semester.
• Complete 30 hours of community service each academic year through the Office of Student Affairs.
• Complete one (1) TAMIU Trailblazer learning dimension.
• Attend all required Meetings during the year.
• Submit Financial Aid application each academic year.

2026-2027 Program Pathways  

Senior Students:

• Continue research projects with Faculty Mentor (with their approval) or switch to Honors Contract route
• Meet Project Deadlines, including to submit:
  • Project Description
  • Final Reflection 
• Present at LEARN Expo during graduation semester 
• Option to do Undergraduate Thesis 

Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Newly Admitted Students: 

• Complete Honors Contract Requirements 
• Meet Contract Deadlines including to submit:
  • Project Description
  • Final Contract Product and Reflection
• Option: Start Thesis Project
