Mission

The Office of Student Orientation, Leadership and Engagement (SOLE) fosters dynamic, student-centered co-curricular experiences that challenge, support and empower students to develop critical navigation skills and strengthen their unique TAMIU experience and success. For each month of the academic calendar, Student Organization Council (S.O.C.) will meet on the first Wednesday of every month with student organization leaders. S.O.C.’s values are to champion collaboration, engagement and participation which are integral to support teamwork and interpersonal development.

Purpose

As per the LEADER manual, every student organization is required to send a representative (preferably an officer) to the monthly Student Organization Council meeting. These meetings will foster collaboration between student organizations and will feature guest speakers from throughout the university.

  • S.O.C. will host monthly meetings to focus on issues and resources that will ensure the all-around success of student organizations.
  • S.O.C. will foster a space for collaborations between student organizations and offices.
  • S.O.C. will feature guest speakers from throughout the university.
  • S.O.C. will provide an opportunity to hear updates from the Student Government Association and student organizations can voice their student organization concerns to the Student Government Association.
  • S.O.C. will provide an opportunity to hear updates from the Office of Student, Orientation, Leadership, and Engagement and ask general questions about their student organization to SOLE.
  • S.O.C. will provide marketable skills for participants to gain for career readiness.
