S.O.L.A.R.

The Office of Student Orientation, Leadership, and Engagement continues to search for innovative ways to provide support and leadership advancement to our student organization leaders.
With this in mind, we invite all of our registered student organizations to participate in our Student Organization Leadership Advancement Retreat (S.O.L.A.R.). With topics covering the “nuts and bolts” of student organizations such as fundraising and recruitment all the way to leadership transitions and the development of personal and organizational goals, S.O.L.A.R. will provide you with all the tools required for success as a student organization.
S.O.L.A.R. will be held Saturday, August 29th. Each organization must submit one registration form and be represented by a minimum of three (3) active members, with each student permitted to represent only one organization during S.O.L.A.R. We are also allowing for students to leave the session early (if need be for work or other reasons) as long as they have another student organization representative to replace them.
To register, visit TAMIU Presence, select Forms, and complete the form titled Student Organization Leadership Advancement Retreat (S.O.L.A.R.).
Organizations will be required to send at least 1 representative to each workshop that we will be having as part of SOLAR. Please refer to the workshop times and dates below:
Sessions to be posted.
As a reminder, every student organization is required to send a representative (preferably an officer) to each session.
As highlighted on Page 9 of The Leader, student organizations are required to send a predetermined number of representatives to S.O.L.A.R. This was also mentioned during our office’s Student Organization Council meeting.
Student Organization Leadership Advancement Retreat (S.O.L.A.R.)
At the beginning of every academic year, SOLE holds a retreat specifically for student organization leaders. Organization members are required to send a pre-determined number of officers to the retreat to review TAMIU policies, procedures, and to strengthen their leadership capacity.
Student organizations that fail to send representatives to S.O.L.A.R. may be subject to sanctions as detailed in The Leader, which may result in disciplinary action, including up to the removal of status as a Registered Student Organization on campus.
