The following are a list of software resources that are available to users.

  • Acrobat Reader - PDF file viewer that can open and interact with all PDF documents.

Media Players

  • Adobe Flash Player - Cross-platform browser-based application runtime that delivers uncompromised viewing of expressive applications, content and videos across screens and browsers.
  • Adobe Shockwave Player - Allows access to dazzling 3D games and entertainment, interactive product demonstrations and online learning applications.
  • MS Silverlight - Is a powerful development tool for creating engaging, interactive user experiences for Web and mobile applications.
  • QuickTime (Macs ONLY. NOT recommended for PCs.) - Allows to view Internet video, HD movie trailers and personal media in a wide range of file formats.
  • RealPlayer - Free media player.
  • VLC Media Player - A free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.
  • Windows Media Player - It has built-in support for many popular audio and video formats.

Campus Licensed Software

  • Respondus LockDown Browser® - A custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Blackboard. Log into Blackboard and locate the link for download under the Learner Support tab.

Discounted Software for Purchase

  • TAMU Software Store (TAMIU Faculty Only) - Purchase software at a discounted price. Software included: Camtasia, SharePoint Designer, Office 2013, Windows 7/8/Vista Upgrade.

Virtual Lab Access

  • Uvirtualdesktop - Access a computer lab instance through the browser or software download. Be able to access computer lab software, such as IBM SPSS, Hawkes Learning Systems Statistics 2013-2014, WarpPLS 4.0, Microsoft Office 2013, Audacity, etc.
